The activities of the Chamber of Commerce of Genoa in transport and infrastructure look to promote the rationalisation and modernization of infrastructure and transport modes in the territorial jurisdiction, within an integrated regional, national and European vision.
 
The development of the local economy, indeed, can not do without careful monitoring of issues related to mobility, in its dual role of supporting policies aimed at achieving a better quality of life and the environment (people carrier) and a better organization of the various production chains and distribution business (freight).
 
Promotional activity in this respect takes place not only through careful lobbying by bodies responsible for implementation of transport infrastructure, but also a thorough information service for the users.
At the center of Logistics Department of the Chamber of Commerce of Genoa is its promotion and monitoring of the most significant features in the institutional participation to the Port Authority of Genoa.
The inclusion of the Chamber of Commerce between the bodies that make up the Committee of the Port Authority - made by the Port Reform Act (1994) as previously occurred with respect to existing Consorzio Autonomo del Porto on the basis of historical law establishing the same in 1903 - means that the Logistics Department can assist the board of the Chamber of Commerce on all institutional activities through which extrinsic participation in statutory bodies of the Port Authority itself.

The Chamber’s role regarding the the Port Authority is emphasized, in particular, during the four-yearly renewal of the Presidency of the Port Authority.

This renewal is made through a decree issued by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructures, based on a set of names with proven experience and skills in the industry as expressed respectively by the Province, the Municipality and the Chamber of Commerce of each territorial area coinciding with the Port Authority.
