Port of Antwerp

The port of Antwerp is a main gateway for European traffic. A central location in Europe and excellent hinterland connections.Antwerp are all part of Antwerp’s services to its customers.

Antwerp’s hinterland extends well beyond Belgium’s borders.  Large volumes of transit trade are handled in Antwerp for customers not just in Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Great Britain, but also in Switzerland , Austria and Italy.
In 2010 Antwerp port operators handled over 178 million tons of international maritime cargo traffic.  This makes Antwerp the fifth largest port in the world, the second largest port in Europe, and by far the largest in Belgium.

As a landlord port, Antwerp Port Authority is responsible for port infrastructure and a number of  general services.  The Port Authority owns the port domain and gives terminals in concession. Terminals can be conceded to private operators who discharge goods but also to companies for industrial or logistic activities.
